K9 Immunity Plus™ is a new and improved form of the immune enhancement supplement, K9 Immunity™. With the introduction of K9 Immunity™ in 2005, the treatment of cancer in dogs took a huge leap forward. It had been known for a long time that chemotherapy and surgery and radiation did not cure cancer, they only removed the active tumor mass. These treatments do nothing to address the underlying immune dysfunction that was allowing the cancer in the first place. The introduction of K9 Immunity™ changed all that. Now we had an option to try and reverse the immune dysfunction, and to trigger the body’s recognition of the cancer as an invader, allowing the body to mount its own defense against the cancer along with the other treatments being used like the chemo or surgery.  In other words, the standard methods used for treating cancer did not and could not result in a cure, they can only help to slow the progress of the cancer by removing the aberrant cells. Even after removing the mass of tumor with a scalpel, or with chemotherapy drugs, the same underlying immune dysfunction still exists throughout the body that allowed the cancer in the first place. With the original cause still present, there is virtually a 100% chance that the cancer will come back. And the cancer that recurs after treating a patient with chemo is always harder to control the next time around. It was and is a poor situation for the patient, but it was the best we had to offer up until the discovery of immune-active polysaccharides in Japan in the 1980’s.

 

While these immune compounds are widely used around the world as the second arm approach for treating cancer in humans, in the USA it is virtually impossible for a company to get a drug approval from naturally occurring compounds, regardless of whether they work or not. So even though every other country has better remission rates for cancer than the USA, these commonly used natural immune modulation compounds (like Lentinan and PSK) are rarely seen in our medical system. It is only in the last couple of years that immune modulation approach of cancer treatment is even being taught in medical and veterinary schools.

 

It was a chance discovery by Aloha Medicinals in the course of our research with PSK and Lentinan that we discovered these immune modulator compounds worked better in dogs than in any other animal. For some reason dogs respond very well to immune modulation therapy. With this discovery, we introduced K9 Immunity™ to the veterinary community. K9 Immunity™ is nothing other than our best selling human immune modulation product in a veterinary package. Just like the human product, K9 Immunity™ comes in bottles of 84 capsules.

 

The next discovery of importance was the way the immuno-proteins made by the body joined together with the immune-active polysaccharides in K9 Immunity™, which together create the trigger molecule that is required to activate the different classes of immune cells. The first of these small immune-active proteins discovered were called Transfer Factors. These are specific proteins made by the body that are required to join to the immune-active polysaccharides to form what is termed a ‘protein-bound polysaccharide immune trigger molecule’, which is the active component found in the blood stream that triggers all immune responses. Since the compounds in K9 Immunity™ are 100% non-toxic and they do not accumulate in the body, we can use K9 Immunity™  in any dosage we want with no problems. Except that they will only be effective at the rate the body is making the matching Transfer Factor protein to join to the molecule to make it an active immune trigger. Fortunately Transfer Factors are just simple small proteins, and they are easily absorbed through the stomach. So this lead to the discovery that supplementing with Transfer Factors along with the K9 Immunity™ leads to a much greater response than just the K9 Immunity™ alone. This quickly became the standard treatment protocol, using K9 Immunity™ along with a Transfer Factor product at the same time. Usually a source of Omega 3 fatty acids such as fish oil is used as well, as this combination leads to the greatest success rate when used in dogs with cancer.   

   

However, this requires three separate products to be used, and it is not always easy to get sick dogs to take their medicine. Many of our clients asked if we could make an all-in-one formula that contained all the active ingredients in an easier to administer dosage format.
